Our Special Village
We are privileged to be surrounded by the wonderful gardens in Darrenwood Village. Thank you to the residents who make such an effort in maintaining their own personal gardens, the gardeners who work so hard in maintaining them and the Garden Monitors for their work behind the scenes.
Nick and Sarah McNally have been hugely responsible for the naming of the various pathways and roads in our Village. Herewith a short rationale for naming some of the various lanes in order that this Institutional Memory might not be forgotten.
Long Close: there are a few Closes (closed roads=No through Road). Long Close is by far the longest and by far the least used.
Azalea Close: a very beautiful close with its own part of the stream, (actually it is not part of the stream, but a self-contained little system) with a wonderful show of Azaleas in the spring and spectacular Orchids in the autumn.
Waterfall Rise: called for the system of decorative waterfalls to be admired. It is amazing to see that such a pretty, varied and interesting system. Many of the rocks are artificial. Some serious photographers have photographed the walkways and lush foliage that adorns them.
Spring Bridge: named for the spring of water which was directed into the stream which is sometimes dry but usually runs all year round.

Darrenwood Village is more than a Retirement Village, it features one of the most attractive gardens and picturesque walkways to promote the healing powers of Mother Nature. An abundance of birdlife has chosen this garden of Eden to live in safety and provide bird songs whilst nurturing their fledglings throughout the seasons.
Residents' entertainment and activity calendars are planned and managed by our very own Pioneer Club members with the help of experienced event hosting personnel.
Our Chefs and dining room staff prepare and present delicious meals and decor to suit a multitude of special occasions.
Our Newsletter features interesting articles and news to keep everyone in sync with life in the slower lane.
Every house/ cottage and flatlet has been designed and built to the highest spec to satisfy each owner's preferences and lifestyle.
We are cognisant of the unique requests of our respected seniors and retired residents who have earned and deserve their independence, friendships, quality lifestyle, and medical support. Our security personnel, maintenance team, gardeners, and Horticulturalist go to extraordinary lengths to earn and reserve their pride of place as an integral members of the Darrenwood Village Community.
