Here At Darrenwood Village we strive to live in peace and prosperity throughout our silver years. Both the health and wellbeing of all our residents are fundamental to our approach and together with the temperate climate and lush manicured gardens we aim to make these years happy and fulfilled. A retirement home doesn't have to be a retirement from life and whether you’re looking for a short stay or you want to settle down with us, our caring staff and management provide everything retirees need for a comfortable and safe stay.

One of the key benefits of residing in Darrenwood Village is access to healthcare and care assistance for all residents. This ensures peace of mind and enables one to age within the comfort of your home. Darrenwood has contracted Medwell SA as the Healthcare Service Provider and as a resident you have access to a bouquet of healthcare services. These include, Primary Health Care Services, Assistive and Support Services in your own home, and Managed Home-Based Care and Nursing Services. The professionally run Wellness Centre, run by the Village Sister has regular clinics as well as 24/7 staff availability to assist in the case of an emergency.

The relationship with Medwell SA is managed through a joint Health and Wellness Committee, on behalf of the Body Corporate, which monitors all aspects of the service delivery offered by Medwell SA.

The Wellness Centre

The Wellness Centre is core to our provision of the highest possible health care to our residents. lt consists of the following:

  • The Village Sister who runs daily clinics during the week and who makes regular visits to the cottages and units. She also does annual personal health assessments for each resident,
  • 24/7 trained staff on site for emergencies,
  • Sick bays for short term confinements,
  • Facilities for care staff.

The Wellness Centre does not have a traditional frail care as all care takes place within a person's home with an allocated carer from Medwell SA. This is an international trend, and is the recommended approach outlined in the Older Persons Act of 2006. Care is given to our residents in their own homes, with their own things around them, who are able to enjoy a meal with family and friends and who can come and go as they please.

The resident might have to be referred to a more suitable facility if all options have been exhausted.

How do I apply for services?

  • Admission criteria will apply and admission policy will be followed.
  • Compulsory documents and reports should be obtained from the Village Sister and completed and returned as soon as possible.
